Getting Started with Swim.com on WearOS

Swim.com is available for WearOS devices running version 2.0 or later. For watches running an older version of WearOS (formerly known as AndroidWear 1.5), such as the Sony Smartwatch 3, only a legacy version of Swim.com is available. This legacy version is no longer supported or receiving updates.

Installing the Swim.com WearOS App

To install the Swim.com WearOS app:

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your watch.
  2. Use the search function to find the Swim.com app.
  3. Select Install to download and install the app.

Connecting to Your Mobile Device

The Swim.com WearOS app is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.

  1. Upon opening the app for the first time, you will be prompted to log in on your mobile device.
  2. Tap on the watch screen, which will direct you to the WearOS app on your paired phone.
  3. Follow the prompts to log in and complete the pairing process.

Important for iOS Users:

If your WearOS watch is paired with an iPhone, it must be connected to an active WiFi network for swim data to sync to Swim.com. Bluetooth syncing is not supported due to Apple’s restrictions on third-party app data transfers.

Features

History

  • View your past swims in this section.
  • A cloud icon indicates sync status:
    • ✓ (checkmark) → Synced to the server.
    • ↑ (arrow) → Not yet synced. Tap the icon or open the workout to force sync.

Goal Alert

  • Set a distance goal to receive a one-time vibration alert when you reach the target.
  • The alert activates after completing the distance, either:
    • When resting at the wall, or
    • During the next length, after data processing.

Select Workout

  • Import scripted workout plans to reference during your swim.
  • This feature does not auto-prompt workouts—it functions as an on-screen guide.
  • To learn how to import workouts, click here.

Automatic Touch Screen Lock

  • The touchscreen automatically disables upon starting a swim to prevent accidental taps from water contact.
  • To wake the screen, press a physical button (usually the power button).
  • No need to manually relock—the screen will lock again automatically when you resume swimming.

Drill & Pace (Send-Off) Mode

Drill Mode

  • Use for kickboard sets or non-standard strokes (e.g., one-arm drills).
  • Lets you manually input distance since kickboard use may prevent motion detection.
  • Required for accurate logging of kick sets and non-standard swim movements.

Pace Mode (Send-Off Timer)

  • Set a recurring countdown timer that vibrates at the end of each cycle.
  • Useful for tracking intervals and ensuring you leave the wall at the correct time.

To access Drill Mode or Pace Mode, swipe left to right or use the watch’s scrolling button.

Additional Screen Views

  • Swipe right to left or scroll down to view:
    • Current swim stats (strokes per length, SWOLF score, pace)
    • Previous interval information
    • Heart rate
    • Other detailed swim metrics

Ending a Workout

  • Swipe right to left or scroll down to the "End Swim" screen.

Legacy Version (AndroidWear)

For older AndroidWear devices:

  • The Swim.com legacy app installs automatically via the parent Swim.com app on your Android phone.
  • Note: These watches do not have access to the standalone Google Play Store on the watch itself.

Note: Swim.com is only supported for Android currently on WearOS devices, other operating systems like Tizen is not currently supported.
