The Swim.com watch app for Apple, Samsung, or WearOS devices can only be used to record swim data that is performed in a lap pool. This is because the app uses a combination of the data received by the watch's accelerometer (produced by your motion) and our proprietary algorithms to determine when you turn at the wall or stop to rest, which in turn will affect how the app keeps track of the distance you have swam. The app does not utilize GPS to record your distance traveled. In swim treadmills, open water, or on erg machines, there are no turns happening and so the app will not be able to determine how far you have swam.
While you cannot use the Swim.com watch app to record a swim performed in a non-lap pool environment, you can enter data for this type of activity manually so that it can be logged into your activity feed.
To manually enter this data into your swim log, open the Swim.com mobile app and with either the Progress or Feed tab selected at the bottom, touch the "Add Activity" icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Start by adding a title to the swim. Then, leave Swim as the chosen activity in the first drop down. On the second drop down, which is defaulted as "Pool", adjust this to "Flume" or "Erg". Continue to fill in any applicable details and then save the activity.
