In version 3.4 of the Swim.com app, we've consolidated many of the search features of the app into one area, called Discover. With the Discover tab, you can search for different pools, find a swim club to join, find existing or new swimming friends in the Swim.com community, search for a new workout to complete, or find a new challenge to join to test your limits!
SWIMMERS
Make Swim.com a social experience by adding your friends who are also on Swim.com! Connect with your teammates, training companions, coaches, and even friendly competitors to make your workouts more fun and engaging.
Whether you're looking to improve your fitness or working towards winning your next gold medal, Swim.com makes it easy to see where you are and where you want to be. Establishing a connection with another swimmer on Swim.com allows you to see each others' logged workouts (if the swimmer you are connected to has a private profile or private data enabled, establishing a connection with them will allow you to see this data while it remains private to others), compete against one another, and also support, encourage, and push each other to reach the next level.
You always have the option to disconnect from a connection you previously connected to without the person receiving any type of notification about the change.
To find other swimmers to connect with, touch the Discover tab on the bottom of the screen of the mobile app and select "Swimmers" from the sub-header. Results for nearby swimmers with public profiles will auto-populate if you have enabled location services for the Swim.com app in your mobile device's privacy settings. You can also apply filters from the search bar to narrow results by age, sex, and class.
Once you view their swimmer profile screen, select the blue "Follow" button to create a connection request.
POOL SEARCHES
To find a pool on the Swim.com mobile app, touch the Discover tab on the bottom of the screen of the mobile app and select "Pools" from the sub-header. Results for nearby pools will auto-populate if you have enabled location services for the Swim.com app in your mobile device's privacy settings. The search bar will allow you to type in a physical location or the pool's exact name, if you know it. You can also apply filters from the search bar to narrow results to pools with specific course lengths, and type of pool such as indoor, outdoor, public, or private.
Once you have located the pool you are looking for, you can touch its name to expose more information. Touch the blue "Make Default" button to assign the pool as your default or home pool.
If you cannot locate the pool you are searching for, it may not be in our database and it will need to be added. Users can add pools to our database after logging into www.swim.com on a web browser. The direct link to add a pool is https://www.swim.com/pools/addfacility. If you would prefer to have us add the pool for you, please email support@swim.com with details such as course lengths available, indoor or outdoor (or both), number of lanes, the pool's website URL, and any other relevant information.
CLUBS
Joining a club allows you to see other club members' workouts and a club leaderboard - useful information for comparing how you're doing in relation to your teammates and competition.
To find a club on the Swim.com mobile app, touch the Discover tab on the bottom of the screen of the mobile app and select "Clubs" from the sub-header. Results for nearby clubs will auto-populate if you have enabled location services for the Swim.com app in your mobile device's privacy settings. The search bar will allow you to type in a physical location or the club's exact name, if you know it. You can also apply filters from the search bar to narrow results to your own clubs, only USMS clubs, or both.
To create your own swim club, you will need to log in to www.swim.com on a web browser as this feature has yet to be ported to the mobile app. The direct link to add a club is https://www.swim.com/clubs/addclub
WORKOUTS
The workouts section of the Discovery section allows you to select workouts from Swim.com’s library or create your own. To find a workout, touch the Discover tab on the bottom of the screen of the mobile app and select "Workouts" from the sub-header.
The default tile view gives you quick access to a few different categories of workouts. On top you’ll see the Workout of the Day selected by Swim.com. The other tiles will display choices from Swim.com’s library of workouts that are targeted toward improving your overall swim performance, your most recent workout swam, suggested workouts based on your filter preferences, the most popular workouts on Swim.com, and your most recently favorited selection. You can also craft your own workout or input a workout given to you from a coach.
Suggested workouts will populate based on two variables: your previous workouts swam and a series of filters set by you. To set your filters, touch the filter icon within the search bar.
You can search for a workout using the exact title (if you know it) or by searching for a word that matches to a word in the title of a workout. Filters allow you to see results based on stroke type, level, course length, author, and distance.
To add your own workout, simply touch the add icon in the upper right corner. Then start adding in details of your custom workout including a title, course length, and then intervals.
CHALLENGES
The challenges section allows you to search for different goals to achieve, whether it be a fastest time or a distance goal. In this section you will see different challenges offered by Swim.com as well as U.S. Masters Swimming. Some of these challenges might be just for fun, while others might allow you to earn discounts on swim gear from our partners at SwimOutlet.com
To find a challenge on the Swim.com mobile app, touch the Discover tab on the bottom of the screen of the mobile app and select "Challenges" from the sub-header.
